Tragic Accident in Cantabria Bike Race: Cyclist from Gijón Dies after a Serious Fall
The organizers of the Cantabria Bike Race have confirmed the death of a cyclist from Gijón who had an accident during the race last Saturday. The victim, Agustín Torres, was a 53-year-old resident and a sales representative for a dairy company. He was also connected to Colombres, in Ribadedeva, where he will be bid farewell by his loved ones tomorrow at five in the afternoon.
The event organizers, who had been closely monitoring the now deceased cyclist’s condition in the past few days, have canceled their Sunday events and, after extending their condolences, announced that a minute of silence will be observed at the beginning of each race this week. “We deeply regret this loss and offer our support to the family in any way they may need,” they stated in a press release. The fall occurred during the second stage of the race in Arenas de Iguña, and was deemed accidental.
