Pesadilla en la cocina is making a comeback on laSexta. The Atresmedia network has started promoting the veteran show led by Alberto Chicote, now in its ninth season. This new season is set to premiere almost two years after the previous one aired.

To create buzz around the announcement, laSexta has chosen a loud and impactful approach: showcasing a compilation of broken dishes from the kitchens Chicote will be visiting in the upcoming episodes. The filming of these episodes began months ago and even included an unpleasant incident for the host and his team.

In recent years, Pesadilla en la cocina has been spacing out its new seasons to avoid the inevitable fatigue that comes with a show that has been on the air for nearly 12 years. The eighth season premiered over two years after the end of the previous one. Aired between November 2022 and February 2023, it recorded its lowest ratings ever, with a 7% share and 816,000 viewers. Nevertheless, it continues to outperform the network’s average and remains one of its most popular shows, not just during its initial airing but also through continuous reruns on Mega.

Despite the long break for the Warner Bros ITVP docureality show, Chicote has remained a prominent figure in the network’s programming. After hosting a new season of ¿Te lo vas a comer? during the summer of 2023, and while filming the current season of Pesadilla, the Madrid-based chef took on a new challenge with Batalla de restaurantes, a nationwide adaptation of Joc de cartes. The season garnered a 5.2% share.

In the meantime, the chef also joined Cristina Pedroche once again for the New Year’s Eve countdown on Antena 3, which was the undisputed leader for the third consecutive year.

With all these exciting developments, fans of Pesadilla en la cocina can look forward to another thrilling season with Chicote at the helm, showcasing his culinary expertise and no-nonsense approach to turning around struggling restaurants. Stay tuned for more drama, delicious dishes, and, inevitably, some broken plates along the way.
