Ansu Fati is determined to give his all and more this year at FC Barcelona. The young forward met with Deco last week to discuss the club’s plans for him. The sports director was clear that Hansi Flick is willing to give him a chance in the preseason, but it’s up to Fati to convince the German coach. However, his high salary, which will exceed ten million euros this season, poses a serious obstacle to his continuity, especially considering the club’s financial constraints due to the ‘fair play’ regulations.

Fati didn’t waste any time and took the first step in convincing Flick on Tuesday. He underwent a strength test supervised by the new fitness coach Julio Tous. Sources revealed that Ansu did exceptionally well on the test, proving that he is in top physical condition to compete. This clears up the first question about his readiness for the preseason.

Nevertheless, Fati still has a long way to go to convince Flick. The competition will be tough this season, especially on the left wing, where players like Raphinha, Ferran Torres, or Joao Felix are strong alternatives. The club is also considering signing a new player for this position. While names like Nico Williams have been mentioned, the club may not be financially ready for such a big move. Therefore, keeping Ansu is becoming a serious option, as long as he meets certain minimum conditions, particularly in terms of physical fitness, where injuries have raised doubts about him.

His loan spell at Brighton in England did not help dispel these doubts either. An injury in December halted his progress, turning his time in the Premier League into a difficult experience. Now back in Barcelona, Ansu is eager to prove himself once again. Whether he can convince Flick to give him a spot in the first team remains to be seen. His countdown starts on July 10th.
