The city’s terraces will be allowed to install televisions from June 14th to July 14th, 2024, in celebration of the Eurocup Football tournament. This decision comes after a request made by the Provincial Association of Hospitality and Tourism Entrepreneurs to allow customers and consumers the opportunity to watch these sporting events. According to the Mobility Councillor, Francisco Navarro, the Local Government Board has approved this exceptional permit, which will be valid from 3 pm to 11 pm, and potentially 24 hours in the case of an extension to accommodate the hospitality activity while respecting the residents’ rest.
Navarro emphasized that this permit only applies to games where the Spanish National Team is playing, as well as the semifinals and final of the Eurocup, regardless of the Spanish team’s participation. For establishments located in the streets within the Special Acoustic Protection Zone (‘The Zone’), affected by the Noise Plan, the installation of visual reproduction devices on the terraces is allowed, but without sound.
He stated, «This decision is in response to a request from the hospitality sector, which aligns with a social demand from citizens. However, it is important to establish limits to ensure that this municipal support for the hospitality industry does not infringe upon the rest rights of the rest of the population.»
In addition to the joy of watching the games outdoors, this initiative aims to boost the local economy by attracting more customers to these establishments during the Eurocup period. It also promotes a sense of community and togetherness as people gather to support their favorite teams.
Furthermore, the installation of televisions on terraces can enhance the overall customer experience, allowing them to enjoy their meals or drinks while keeping up with the exciting matches. This can lead to increased customer satisfaction and loyalty to these businesses, ultimately benefiting the local economy in the long run.
Overall, the decision to permit the installation of televisions on terraces during the Eurocup reflects a thoughtful balance between supporting the hospitality industry, meeting the demands of the public, and respecting the rights of residents. It is a positive step towards creating a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere during this exciting sporting event.
