Aer Lingus pilots have informed management that they plan to start an indefinite work-to-rule strike from June 26 due to a salary dispute, a move that the Irish airline says will cause “significant disruption”. The Irish Airline Pilots Association (IALPA) stated in a press release that pilots will not work overtime or answer phone calls outside of working hours because management “has not made us a significant salary offer”. Aer Lingus, part of the IAG group which also owns Iberia and British Airways, said in a customer note on Wednesday that it was “currently evaluating the impact of all the strike details”. IALPA has rejected a 9.25% salary increase proposed by the Irish Labor Court and claims to be seeking a 24% increase to compensate for several years of inflation and cuts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
