Amelia Pérez requests to be heard in lawsuit against the election of prosecutor Luz Adriana Camargo

In the midst of one of the lawsuits currently in progress at the State Council against the election of Luz Adriana Camargo as Attorney General of the Nation, a letter sent by Amelia Pérez Parra, who had also been nominated for the position, requesting to be heard was revealed.

The letter, signed by Pérez, who surprisingly resigned from the Prosecutor’s Office ternary on the same day of the election, March 12, 2024, asks for her testimony to be taken into account in the study of the lawsuit. It is important to clarify that Pérez did not file this lawsuit against Camargo, but rather citizen Samuel Alejandro Ortiz Mancipe.

In the letter that arrived at the office of magistrate Luis Alberto Álvarez Parra, from the Fifth Section of the high court, Pérez begins by stating that she addresses the office and the entire State Council to request, in her «double capacity as a citizen and witness,» that her testimony be received during the evidentiary phase of this process.

The lawyer asked to be heard by the office «so that the Corporation knows in detail the circumstances surrounding the events under study.» She also states that «it is general interests that motivate me to make this request.»

According to the State Council’s consultation system, this letter was received on May 24, and other memoranda have been added to the lawsuit file that will be analyzed by the office.
