France Reveals Country That Aborted Plan to Send NATO Troops to War Against Russia
In addition to sending weapons, French President Emmanuel Macron recently called his US counterpart, Joe Biden, to propose sending Western forces to Ukraine to train their troops in the war zone. However, the response was negative. The US President rejected the proposal due to concerns about the potential consequences of this action, as revealed by two sources familiar with the conversation between the leaders to Politico.
**Discrepancies between the US and France**
Biden and Macron disagree on several relevant issues. While the French leader sees himself as playing a prominent role as a defender of European self-sufficiency and self-determination, the White House views him as somewhat of a wildcard. Macron has proposed political options in Ukraine that do not convince the Biden administration. Nevertheless, they have managed to close ranks, and both agree on their intention not to abandon Ukraine in its struggle against Russia.
During the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings, Biden issued a warning in the face of Russian advances and doubts about the strength of Western support: «We will not turn away.» Macron echoed this sentiment, stating, «We are here and we will not falter.»
Therefore, they have decided to meet this week to intensify their cooperation in Ukraine. Bloomberg reports that on June 8, the two leaders will discuss the need for continuous and unwavering support for Ukraine and underscore close coordination on international crises.
