The Social Municipal Group has reported the state of the municipal pool in Patrocinio, where they have assured that there is a pigeon infestation in addition to cracks and broken tiles that are causing injuries to users of the children’s pool. This was conveyed at a press conference by the socialist vice-spokesperson, Flora Bellón, who stated that in the pool in the neighborhood of Patrocinio, there is “a serious problem with pigeons” that “is not being solved even though the pool users have been saying for some time that the pigeons are roaming freely and no solution is being implemented.” Bellón, who showed a photograph to demonstrate the damage that pigeons are causing in these municipal facilities, also emphasized that the solution is “not just to clean it up” as it affects “sanitation.” She added that due to the droppings of these birds, “then bugs and fleas appear” and despite the fact that “people are complaining day in and day out,” the councilor responsible for the area “does nothing.” Therefore, she urged the councilor in charge of these sports facilities, Antonio Núñez, to “leave the office and come see this pool and all the municipal pools.” Additionally, she said, “bring the public health councilor along, she must have something to say about the situation of these municipal pools.”

To this problem, she added others such as the “lack of maintenance and conservation” of the pool in the neighborhood of Patrocinio, specifically the small pool, as it has “cracks” and “there are children who have been cut” using it and users who have reported the presence of a broken and raised tile. Likewise, the socialist vice-spokesperson lamented that this same municipal pool has other deficiencies, including problems with the public address system.

In the same context, the vice-spokesperson of the socialist group has insisted on asking the Sports councilor if an order has been given to close the municipal pool of La Piedad “due to lack of maintenance,” something that the PSOE asked about in the last Plenary session but “the councilor did not respond.”

Additionally, it is crucial for the city council to address these issues promptly to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents who use these public facilities. Neglecting maintenance and sanitation concerns can lead to serious health risks for the community. Therefore, it is imperative that local authorities take immediate action to address the pigeon infestation and pool conditions at the Patrocinio residence. Residents deserve to have access to safe and hygienic recreational spaces, and it is the responsibility of the city council to ensure that these standards are met.
