Instituto’s team trained this morning, preparing for their upcoming match against Newell’s in Rosario on Thursday at 9:15 PM for the fifth round of the Professional League. This game will be the last one for the team before the break for the Copa America and will be broadcast live on TV Pública. Coach Diego Dabove confirmed that Fernando Alarcón will return to the starting lineup after recovering from his injury in Junín. “If nothing strange happens, Palomo will be playing on Thursday and will be a starter. Silvio Romero has also returned to training normally and will be called up,” said the coach in an interview with Línea de Cuatro on ShowSport.
Dabove also reflected on his time at the club, noting the significant progress made in the past year. “When we took over a year ago, the situation was completely different. We were in a relegation zone with much more complex issues. Today we have a much stronger Instituto in the top division,” he said. Addressing the team’s six consecutive losses in the past, he emphasized the importance of overcoming the negative streak mentally. He acknowledged that certain matches, such as the Copa Argentina and the game against River, were particularly challenging, but believed they could have performed better in others.
Looking ahead to the upcoming transfer window, Dabove expressed his vision for the team’s recruitment strategy. “I don’t see more than two or three players coming in. We have a balanced squad where most players have a role. We will focus on finding a replacement for goalkeeper Marcos Peano, and then assess other positions. Any new additions must enhance the current squad,” he stated. The team is currently focused on maintaining their position in the Professional League and building on their recent improvements.
