In Venezuela, motorcycles have become the vehicle of tragedy, according to the latest report from the Road Safety Observatory. In the month of May alone, there were 284 road accidents that resulted in 101 deaths, with motorcycles being the most commonly involved vehicles.
The report highlighted that there were 50 motorcycle skids, 80 crashes, and 33 motorcycle rollovers, as well as 33 pedestrian accidents. Shockingly, out of the 101 fatalities, 77 were male and 35 were motorcycle riders. Tragically, there were also 6 minors among the deceased.
Caracas has the highest rate of road accidents at 17.2%, followed by Bolívar, Falcón, and Táchira. In light of the upcoming World Day of Road Safety, the organization is urging authorities to implement educational policies for drivers, passengers, pedestrians, and cyclists in order to improve road safety culture in the country.
It is clear that there is a pressing need for action to address the alarming number of motorcycle-related accidents in Venezuela.
