‘Twilight of the Gods’: Zack Snyder’s Animated Viking Series for Netflix Unveils First Glimpse
In a bold move, Netflix has teamed up with Zack Snyder for ‘Rebel Moon’, but their collaboration doesn’t end there. The director is already gearing up for his next project on the platform: ‘Twilight of the Gods’. This time, we are in for an animated series about Vikings that has already given us a glimpse with a tremendous look.
According to Netflix, ‘Twilight of the Gods’ is set in “a mythic world of great battles, great deeds, and great despair.” It follows the story of Leif, a human king, who falls in love with a warrior named Sigrid after she saves his life. Surviving Thor’s wrath, they embark on a long journey through fantastic lands and bloody battles in search of revenge.
Netflix has released the first images and a small teaser of the animation as part of its upcoming animated releases for the rest of 2024. While a specific date is yet to be confirmed, it seems like we can expect ‘Twilight of the Gods’ to arrive next fall.
In addition to Snyder, Jay Oliva and Eric Carrasco are also credited as creators of the series. Snyder, Oliva, Tim Divar, Andrew Tamandl, and David Hartman will direct several episodes. While showcasing certain anime influences and a hint of Cartoon Saloon’s style, ‘Twilight of the Gods’ is animated by Xilam, the French studio responsible for ‘I Lost My Body’.
The voice cast includes Stuart Martin as Leif, Sylvia Hoeks as Sigrid, Pilou Asbæk as Thor, Rahul Kohli as Egill, Paterson Joseph as Loki, Jamie Clayton, Birgitte Hjort Sørensen, Kristofer Hivju, Thea Sofie Loch Næss, John Noble, and Peter Stormare, among others.
